46: Acacia Bishop

In May 2003, 18-month-old Acacia Bishop vanished during a visit with her great-grandmother and grandmother, Kelly Lodmille. Kelly was later found near a power plant in Idaho, claiming Acacia had fallen into the river and drowned. However, investigators believe it was a failed murder-suicide attempt. The family insists that Acacia was handed over to another individual rather than harmed, despite no sign of her ever being found. Acacia was known to be a spirited toddler, loved by her family, but the dynamics with her grandmother were complicated due to Kelly's mental health issues, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Kelly's mental state was deteriorating, compounded by substance abuse and lack of access to medication. After a concerning incident where she harmed a child with a pellet gun, her relationship with Acacia’s parents had become strained. Despite a supervised visitation arrangement, Kelly took Acacia and fled. This led to delayed police action, which significantly hindered search efforts. After the Amber Alert was finally issued, Kelly was seen at a hotel with a man, deepening the mystery of Acacia's disappearance.

Kelly later claimed that she accidentally drowned Acacia in the river, but her conflicting accounts have raised suspicions about her true intentions. Despite extensive searches of the Snake River, the search yielded no evidence of Acacia’s body. The case remains cold, with Acacia’s parents believing that she was trafficked and still alive, while authorities maintain that she was likely murdered by her grandmother. To this day, Acacia's whereabouts remain a mystery, with her family continuing to seek answers as they mark milestone birthdays without her.
